  • White House Announces National HIV/AIDS Strategy
    In the United States, approximately 56,000 people become infected with HIV each year and more than 1.1 million Americans are living with HIV. To combat this growing epidemic, the White House today released the National HIV/AIDS Strategy (NHAS) and accompanying NHAS Federal Implementation Plan. Secretary Sebelius also announced that $30 million of the Affordable Care Act's Prevention Fund will be dedicated to the implementation of the NHAS. This funding will support the development of combination prevention interventions. It will also support improved surveillance, expanded and targeted testing, and other activities.
  • Statement from Secretary Sebelius on Reallocating $25 million for AIDS Drug Assistance
    The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services took an important step to improve access to critical HIV/AIDS prescription drugs. The $25 million reallocated for AIDS drug assistance provides resources to States that have AIDS Drug Assistance Program (ADAP) waiting lists or have implemented strategies to contain costs and delay or prevent a waiting list.

    President Obama has released a statement in honor of National HIV Testing Day, June 27. Read the statement.

  • Webinar: The Current and Future State of HIV Testing in the United States
    On Tuesday, June 22, 2010, from 3-4pm (EDT), AIDS.gov will host a National HIV Testing Day webinar for Federal staff and grantees who work with domestic HIV/AIDS programs. The webinar will provide an update on HIV testing in the U.S. with some of the U.S. Government’s leading voices on HIV/AIDS, including Mr. Christopher Bates, PACHA; Dr. Kevin Fenton and Dr. Bernard Branson, CDC; and others. Register by June 18.
  • CDC releases 2008 HIV Surveillance Report
    The CDC has released its HIV Surveillance Report, 2008. This report presents data for cases of HIV infection and AIDS reported to CDC.

Relationship Boot Camp

A fun time was had by all at the Cream City Medical Society's Relationship Boot Camp held this past Saturday May 22 at McKinley Gardens Community Center on Vliet.  Several Cream City doctors were in attendance at the event that helped to raise awareness about the impact of media and rap music on the behavior of youth and especially in regards to teen sexual conduct and choices.

MULYP Development Conference: June 12, 2010

The MULYP half-day conference presents Milwaukee’s young professionals with a series of programs geared toward leadership, career and business development. 

The conference unites experts from various specialties to cover a range of topics, accommodating professionals of varying levels (entry level, mid- and upper-management, entrepreneurs and those seeking employment). Through each session, guests will receive a variety of information and knowledge that can provide immediate and long-term strategies and tactics for their leadership, career and/or business development.
